Type 1: Public Bus (BVG)
The BVG runs the X7 and X71 lines from Rudow U-Bahn station to BER. Journey time from Rudow about 15 minutes. Anyone coming from the south of Berlin — Neukölln, Tempelhof, Britz — can first take the U7 to Rudow and then the X7 to the airport. Ticket AB plus C: 4.40 euros single fare. Day pass AB+C: 10.60 euros.
There are also regional buses from the surrounding Brandenburg area: line 736 from Königs Wusterhausen, line 162 from Schönefeld-Süd and a few more. All on the VBB fare, all inexpensive, none particularly comfortable with suitcases.
Worth it for: students, commuters, travellers with hand luggage. Not worth it for: families with three suitcases, groups, late-night flyers.
Type 2: BER Shuttle (the FEX train isn't a bus, but is often called one)
Strictly speaking, the FEX is an express train, not a bus. Nevertheless, many people search for "shuttle bus BER" and mean the FEX. It runs every 30 minutes between BER and Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Faster than any bus, same fare as the BVG bus.
If your destination is Hauptbahnhof or Friedrichstraße and you have little luggage — that's the king among the cheap options.
Type 3: Private Shared Shuttle (Door-to-Door)
With this model you share a minibus with other passengers, all with different addresses. The driver picks up one after another or drops off one after another. Advantage: cheaper than your own private transfer. Disadvantage: it takes longer because several stops are made. There are a few providers, and prices usually range between 20 and 35 euros per person.
Worth it if you have time, travel alone and are looking for something between the S-Bahn and a private taxi. Anyone travelling with children knows the problem: one stop, second stop, third stop — the children lose it.
Type 4: Private Minibus / Exclusive Shuttle
This is exactly where it gets interesting. If you're a group — family, club, wedding party, company — you can book a whole minibus just for yourselves. The driver goes straight to your address, no detours, no other passengers.
The sizes: minibus 7pax for seven people with seven suitcases. Minibus 19pax for nineteen people (and yes, drivable on a car licence). Premium minibus for six people with leather trim, more for business.
Fixed prices from within Berlin: minibus 7pax from 88 euros. Minibus 19pax from 300 euros. Premium minibus from 129 euros. From the surrounding area correspondingly higher.
When Is Each Shuttle Worth It?

With seven people, the private minibus is therefore not only more relaxed, but also cheaper than three taxis and not much more expensive than seven BVG tickets — with the difference that no one has to carry their suitcase across two platforms.
