Travellers planning a ride to or from BER can bring the key details together in advance: address, time, passengers and luggage. The article “Private Transfer from Potsdam to BER” provides context.

Consider route, time and vehicle

The information on this page does not replace the booking-form details. The options and conditions shown there apply to the specific journey.

Potsdam may not be far from Berlin, but getting to BER is still not a given. The train connection is okay but not direct, your own car has to be parked at the airport (and that's expensive), and a Berlin taxi doesn't really want to drive back from Potsdam without a new passenger. A pre-booked private transfer solves all these problems.

How Far Is Potsdam from BER Anyway?

From Potsdam city centre it's about 30 kilometres as the crow flies. By road via the A115 and A100 about 38 kilometres, via the A10 (Berlin ring road) about 45 kilometres — longer, but often less congested at the weekend. The journey time is between 35 and 55 minutes depending on the district and time of day.

This depends heavily on the district. Babelsberg is comparatively the closest — the trip goes directly via the A115 without a detour through the city centre. Bornstedt or Potsdam-West, on the other hand, lie towards Werder, so the journey is longer. From Berliner Vorstadt or Klein Glienicke you drive through Berlin's outer areas and can take 50 minutes or more in dense traffic.

What Does a Transfer from Potsdam Cost?

Fixed prices staggered by vehicle class, from Potsdam city centre:

Economy 1-2 people: 79 euros
Minivan 4 people: 89 euros
Minibus 7pax: 119 euros
Premium Minibus 6pax: 159 euros
Minibus 19pax: 339 euros

From the western Potsdam districts — Bornstedt, Eiche, Golm, Fahrland — the prices are about 10 to 20 euros higher, because the route is longer. In the booking form you simply enter your exact address and see the price immediately.

Comparison: Train, Car, Taxi, Transfer

By train. From Potsdam Hbf take the RB23 to Berlin Hbf (or Bahnhof Südkreuz) and then the FEX to BER. About 1:15 hours. A ticket for fare zone ABC: 4.80 euros. Sounds cheap, but: two changes with luggage, often full trains, and at 5 a.m. the RB23 isn't running yet.

By your own car. The drive is no problem, the A115 is usually clear. But: parking at BER costs from 8 euros per day in the long-term car park, from 19 euros in the premium area. Anyone away for a week quickly pays 60 euros in parking fees — plus fuel, plus an hour on the day of return to fetch the car and drive home.

By taxi. Berlin taxis operate in Potsdam, but are expensive because of the distance. With the meter from Potsdam city centre to BER you end up at 70 to 90 euros — and that without a waiting-time guarantee and without any certainty that a taxi will even be outside the door at 4 a.m.

By private transfer. Fixed price from 79 euros, comes to your exact address, knows your flight time, waits if you arrive late. For return trips from BER, 90 minutes of waiting time are included.

Tips for Potsdam Travellers

Tip 1: Early flights. For a flight before 7 a.m. the RB23 doesn't run reliably yet, and finding a taxi at night in Potsdam is difficult. The pre-booked transfer is definitely the most reliable option there.

Tip 2: Return journey by train instead of transfer? Anyone coming back alone and without much luggage can certainly take the FEX to Berlin Hbf and then the RB23 to Potsdam. It takes just under an hour and costs around 10 euros. Not everyone wants to book a transfer for both directions.

Tip 3: Give the address precisely. Potsdam has many dead ends and one-way streets, especially in the old town. If you don't have the house number because, for example, you're being picked up in front of a hotel, add the name of the hotel in the comment field. That saves the driver from searching.

Which Potsdam Districts We Serve

All of them. Babelsberg, Bornstedt, Berliner Vorstadt, Brandenburger Vorstadt, Potsdam-West, Am Stern, Drewitz, Waldstadt, Schlaatz, Eiche, Golm, Fahrland, Groß Glienicke, Klein Glienicke, Sacrow, Krampnitz, Marquardt, Neu Fahrland and the smaller districts. You'll find a complete list in our service area.

If you live in Potsdam and need to get to BER, the private transfer is the most relaxed option in 80 percent of cases. The train is only worthwhile for daytime flights, plenty of time and little luggage. Your own car quickly costs more than the transfer if you're away longer. And taxis are unreliable at night. Fixed price, punctual pick-up, waiting time included — that's what makes the difference.
