A direct ride to BER is not necessarily the best option for every trip. This article looks at “Private BER Group Transfer for up to 19 People” plainly and explains when a private transfer can make sense.

Check before booking

The booking form first shows the route and then the available vehicle options. The total price is visible before booking is completed.

Getting a travel group of 15 or 19 people to BER is no job for taxis. Coordinating three cars, three drivers, three routes - and in the end seven people stand at the terminal waiting for the others. A classic. Anyone flying with a group, whether it's a family celebration, a stag do, a club outing, a choir trip or a company outing, books one vehicle. Full stop. Here are the options.

Three vehicle classes are relevant for groups. Which one fits depends on the number of people and the luggage.

Minibus 7pax (up to 7 people, 7 suitcases, from 88 euros). Typically a Mercedes Vito, Volkswagen T6 or comparable vehicle. Seven full seats, boot space for seven standard suitcases. For smaller travel groups, families with grandparents, club trips for six.

Minivan (up to 4 people, 4 suitcases, from 138 euros). Really more of a premium vehicle for four people, but relevant if you're travelling with three adults plus a mountain of sports gear (skis, golf bags, diving equipment).

Minibus 19pax (up to 19 people, 19 suitcases, from 300 euros). The main vehicle for large groups. Depending on availability, various models are used here: Mercedes Sprinter (the classic, a robust coach with 19 or 20 seats), Yutong (a Chinese manufacturer, often as a coach variant with a bit more comfort), Isuzu (compact coaches, often in the 16 to 19-seat variant), GMC or other models. We order the right vehicle, and you get the registration in advance by email.

What does a Minibus 19pax really cost?

From central Berlin to BER: 300 euros fixed price for the whole group. From Potsdam and the surrounding area, 267 to 320 euros depending on the district. From further Brandenburg regions such as Falkensee, Bernau or Hennigsdorf, 350 to 450 euros.

Sounds like a lot at first. But work it out per head: 300 euros divided by 19 people is 15.80 euros per person. Not even the S-Bahn (4.40 euros for a single ticket) comes close once you factor in the waiting time, the changes and the risk that an S-Bahn is cancelled and half the group misses the connection.

Compared with five taxis for the same group (an average of 70 euros per metered trip to BER, so 350 euros plus tips), the minibus is considerably cheaper and, above all, coordinated: one vehicle, one meeting point, one arrival time.

5 to 7 people. Minibus 7pax. The classic for medium-sized groups. With more than 5 people a single Minivan gets tight; with the Minibus 7pax you have ample room.

8 to 13 people. Here it gets interesting. Two Minibus 7pax (176 euros together) are sometimes cheaper than one Minibus 19pax (300 euros). But: two vehicles mean two drivers, two routes, and sometimes a delay with one of them. From 10 people we recommend the 19pax bus, because coordination on a trip matters more than saving 50 euros.

14 to 19 people. The Minibus 19pax is the only sensible option. One vehicle, one driver, everyone gets out at the same point. Full stop.

More than 19 people. On request. We coordinate several Minibus 19pax or arrange a coach with 30 to 50 seats. The lead time is then at least 7 days, ideally 14.

Which models actually turn up?

The question comes up often, especially with groups who want to know what they're getting. Honest answer: we allocate according to availability. What you get for certain is the class and capacity (19 seats, 19 suitcases). Which specific model depends on the day of booking.

Mercedes Sprinter. The most likely vehicle. A robust minibus, 19 or 20 seats in a 2-1 layout, air conditioning, a high step-in, the classic character of a Sprinter. Storage space at the back for suitcases.

Yutong. A more modern minibus with a bit more comfort, quieter inside. Sometimes with USB ports at the seats.

Isuzu Turkuaz or Novociti. A compact variant, often 16 to 19 seats. More manoeuvrable in city traffic, which is an advantage when picking up in narrower Berlin residential streets.

GMC, Ford Transit or comparable American models. Rarer in the allocation, but in the fleet. A generous interior, especially for long trips from the outer districts.

For special requests, such as a coach with a toilet for long journeys or a premium bus with leather trim for wedding parties, get in touch with support beforehand - that's only possible on request.

Practical tips for group trips

At least 24 hours' lead time, better 48. Minibus 19pax are scarce in the summer months and on public holidays. Anyone booking Thursday morning for Friday early on often has no luck. Booking a week ahead is standard.

One combined pick-up or several stops? Both are possible. Note it in the comment field when booking: a central meeting point (for example outside a hotel or an underground car park) or a combined pick-up (two or three addresses across the city served one after another). For several stops we plan roughly 10 minutes extra per intermediate halt.

Estimate luggage per person realistically. 19 people each with one standard suitcase and hand luggage fit with no problem. 19 people each with a suitcase plus diving gear plus a surfboard - that gets tight. For special luggage (skis, snowboard, bike, golf, surfboard, musical instrument) state it in the comment field when booking, and we'll allocate accordingly.

Child seats possible in the minibus too. For family trips with several small children, note the number and type of seats on the booking form (infant carrier, toddler seat, booster). In the 19pax bus, four to six child seats fit with no problem.

Early flights from 4 a.m. no problem. Fixed price 24/7, no night or weekend surcharges. But for early flights with a group, do book the day before, ideally two days ahead.

From which regions?

Travel-group transfers run from all of Berlin, Brandenburg and Potsdam. Popular pick-up regions for larger groups: Berlin Mitte (hotels for travel groups, station connections), Charlottenburg (large hotel capacity), Potsdam centre (conference hotels), Falkensee, Bernau and Königs Wusterhausen. But pick-up from suburban locations with larger terraced-house estates or club premises is no problem either. Enter the pick-up address and the price appears instantly.

Not guaranteed, but requests are taken into account in the comment field. If you explicitly want a Mercedes Sprinter or a Yutong, write it in. We allocate accordingly, subject to availability. The guarantee only covers the class (19pax) and capacity.

One person has fallen ill, so we're 17 instead of 19. Does the price change?

No. A fixed price is a fixed price per vehicle, not per person. Whether 14 or 19 people get in, the price stays the same.

Can we have the luggage loaded centrally?

Yes, the driver helps with loading. With 19 suitcases that takes roughly 8 to 12 minutes, which is factored into the travel times. But do allow enough buffer.

Cancellation for a group booking?

For the Minibus 19pax a cancellation deadline of 24 hours before departure applies for free cancellation. Later cancellations may be charged pro rata depending on the lead time. It's set out in the confirmation email.

Online in advance by VISA, MasterCard, Google Pay or Apple Pay. For group bookings over 250 euros, depending on the route, a deposit with the balance paid to the driver is also possible. A collective invoice to a single organiser is possible on request; ask support in advance.

Does the Minibus 19pax have WiFi, USB chargers or air conditioning?

Air conditioning, yes, always. WiFi and USB chargers depend on the model. Mercedes Sprinters don't have them as standard, whereas newer Yutong models do. If that matters, ask support beforehand and we'll allocate accordingly.

Can animals come along too?

In the Minibus 19pax pets are welcome, ideally in a carrier or, for larger dogs, with a safety harness. Just note it in the booking's comment field.
